Developers and designers entering the new era of Windows Vista might find themselves struggling to test previous versions of IE. Although there are several methods to accomplish this in Windows XP, post and IE 7 installation; Windows Vista puts up a fight with dual IE installations.
This is partly because the rendering engine in IE 7 and above are tightly integrated with the core operating system in Vista. Fun enough, you can download “images” of XP with previous version of IE right from Microsoft’s website. There’s also Multiple IEHowever, that can facilitate the installation of IE in XP only (last checked). However, I recently found this brilliant little application, IETester, that runs IE 5.5, IE 6, IE7, and IE 8 beta1 while closely rendering the AcidTest as they should in both XP and Vista! Try It and let me know what you think.
